Woman struck by car, killed in Kentwood

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A 46-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Kentwood Tuesday morning.

It happened around 6:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of East Beltline Avenue near 28th Street in Kentwood.

Authorities say Laticia Hernandez was crossing to the west on the East Beltline when she was struck by a southbound vehicle.

Hernandez was taken to a hospital where she later died. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, police say.

Officers say alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.

The southbound lanes of East Beltline Avenue were shut down near 28th Street for nearly two hours as authorities investigated and worked to clear the scene. The road has since reopened.
