Man arrested after hours-long standoff in Hastings

HASTINGS, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a man was arrested after an hours-long standoff in Hastings.

The Hastings Police Department said around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday officers were called to check on a woman at a house in the 700 block of Hanover Street.

The woman told officers she was assaulted by a man and a weapon was involved in the incident. When officers tried to talk to the suspect, the police department said he refused to answer and barricaded himself in the house.

Shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect exited the house and was taken into custody. He is being lodged at the Barry County Jail awaiting arraignment.
