Shots fired lead deputies to stolen vehicle

COOPER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The sound of gunshots led deputies to a stolen vehicle out of Kalamazoo Township early Sunday morning.

According to authorities, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s received multiple calls just before 5:30 a.m. about the sound of gunshots in the area of Rollridge Avenue and Observation Avenue in Cooper Township. The callers made it sound as if these shots were occurring between vehicles on Rollridge Avenue. When deputies arrived to the area they found an unoccupied vehicle that had crashed in the 3500 block of Rollridge. This vehicle happened to be reported stolen by Kalamazoo Township Police just a few weeks earlier.

No injuries were reported in this incident.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office or Silent Observer.
