SUV crashes into building in Grand Rapids; 1 arrested

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman was arrested after crashing her SUV into a building in Grand Rapids early Friday morning.

It happened around 12:40 a.m. Friday on Division Avenue near the intersection of Cutler Street SW, south of Burton Street.

The Grand Rapids Police Department said the vehicle was heading northbound when the driver lost control and struck the building.

The driver, a 30-year-old woman, ran away from the scene of the crash but officers later found her near the intersection of Buchanan Avenue SW and Kirtland Street SW, according to GRPD.

The woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and parole violation.
