No injuries in Kalamazoo house fire

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say no one was hurt in a house fire in Kalamazoo.

The blaze started around 1:15 p.m. Friday on Prospect Street just south of West Main Street.

When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the eaves of the home. The fire eventually spread to the attic, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Crews battle the blaze for hours in order to extinguish it, police say.

People in the home had evacuated before crews arrived, and the American Red Cross is assisting the family who resided in the home.

The fire marshal’s office is still investigating the cause of the blaze.
