Suspect charged in standoff at Wyoming apartment complex

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — The man involved in a standoff on Sunday evening at a Wyoming apartment complex has been charged, police say.

The suspect, who’s name wasn’t released, is facing two felony firearms charges, one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of resisting and obstructing.

The situation began around 6 p.m. Sunday at the Peppercorn Apartments on Woodward Ave. SW off Clyde Park Ave. SW when police received a call about an argument, according to a release from the Wyoming Department of Public Safety.

When police arrived, they were told the suspect, who already had two arrest warrants, had gone into a nearby garage. Officers asked the man to come out and he refused, saying he had a gun.

After negotiating for several hours, police were able to peacefully take the man into custody. They later found a loaded gun in the garage.

The suspect’s arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday. Check back with for updates.
