KDPS: 21-year-old woman dies after being hit by car

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kalamazoo woman who was hit by a car early Saturday morning has died from her injuries.

Police say a woman was attempting to cross the intersection of West Michigan Avenue and Emajean Street around 2 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses told police she was hit by a car that had the right-of-way traveling through the intersection.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Connor Meert.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers say they found Meert unresponsive when they arrived. She was taken to the hospital in stable but critical condition. Meert later died from her injuries at around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

KDPS says this incident is still under investigation.
