Man dies after being critically injured in GR shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say A man was pronounced dead after being critically injured in a shooting in Grand Rapids Friday night.

The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. on Watkins Street SE near Henry Avenue SE and neighbors near the scene told News 8 they heard several gunshots.

Grand Rapids police say shots were fired into a home and a 23-year-old man was shot.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening-injuries where he was immediately taken into surgery, but he died from his injuries during the operation.

The suspect is unknown at this time, police say.

The Grand Rapids Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident as multiple vehicles and residences were hit by bullets.
