Report: Hiker’s body found in Manistee National Forest

GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Oceana County authorities say they have found the body of a missing hiker, the Oceana County Press reports.

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office says Lisa Casler was reported missing around 3:40 p.m. Monday after she went hiking and bird-watching in the area of Pines Point in the Manistee National Forest, southwest of Hesperia.

That’s where, on Tuesday, a K-9 led investigators to her body not far from where her car was found, the Oceana County Press reports.

Sheriff Craig Mast told the Press there is no sign of foul play and it appears Casler, 54, of Coopersville, may have died of a medical problem or exposure. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
