2 hurt in shooting at apartments near WMU

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were shot and injured at an apartment complex near Western Michigan University Thursday.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. at 700 SoHo Apartments on Howard Street.

When police arrived, they said they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside their home.

Several witnesses to police described the incident as “a rolling gun battle between two vehicles.” Gunfire went into a home and hit a person.

A second victim later showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound, Kalamazoo police say.

Both victims are being treated with non-life-threatening injures.

WMU police also said campus is secure.
